RainPoint Wireless Wi-Fi Rain Gauge with Rainfall, Accurate Rainfall Record (Sub-Device, Need to Pair with Irrigation Hub or Wifi Gateway)

Unfortunately, the answer is no. We have dedicated gateways that will facilitate the seamless pairing of any RainPoint Smart Add-on devices with our HomGar App.

You may choose Either One of the following: A simple Wifi Gateway or an Irrigate Display Hub, the latter can display the soil/rain data, as well as the watering schedule, on a crisp clear screen.

Please note that the gateways are sold separately and are essential for the proper functioning of the Smart Rain Gauge. The RainPoint Rain Gauge will not work independently or with the wifi Weather Station.

The RainPoint 8-Zone Sprinkler Controller is not directly compatible with the RainPoint wireless rain gauge. However, the controller includes a built-in gateway hub, so you do not need to purchase an additional hub to connect the wireless rain gauge to the same network. While you cannot configure the rain gauge to work directly with the sprinkler controller, once it is added to the app, you can monitor rainfall remotely and adjust the sprinkler schedule as needed.

To successfully pair your rain gauge with the app, please ensure the rain gauge is as close as possible to the Wi-Fi gateway hub during the setup process.

📶 Pairing Instructions:

Step 1: Add the Wi-Fi Gateway Hub in the app first.Then, tap “Add Sub-device” and select the Rain Sensor. The app will enter pairing mode and begin a countdown.

Step 2: Before the countdown ends, insert the batteries into the rain gauge to complete the pairing process.

📏 Connection Tips:

If the rain gauge doesn’t connect, check the following:

• Distance: Ensure the rain gauge is not too far from the gateway.
  
• Obstructions: Avoid placing it behind thick walls, reinforced concrete, or glass.
  
• Interference: Keep it away from engines, large appliances, or other electronic devices that may interfere with the signal.
  
• In most cases, moving the rain gauge closer to the gateway resolves the issue.

If you’re experiencing delays with the app display, try refreshing it by navigating to other sections and returning—this often resolves minor glitches. Additionally, tap the “Chart” button to review recorded rain data from the past 30 days or 12 months. If no data appears, please ensure the rain gauge is properly synced. You can try removing and resyncing the device, then slowly pour water through the funnel to see if the rainfall is registered in the app.

If the rain gauge is already paired but still not recording data, open the unit and check that the tipping bucket mechanism inside moves freely. We often secure the bucket with a small amount of light glue for safe shipping, so you may need to gently press it to release the mechanism.

If the issue persists after these steps, please send us a photo of the app display and the product setup. This will help us diagnose the issue more accurately. If the unit is confirmed to be defective, we’ll gladly send you a replacement at no charge.

The Wi-Fi rain gauge can be calibrated directly in the app. To do this, go to the device page, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner to access Settings, then select“Sensor Correction.”From there, you can adjust the rainfall reading by percentage to calibrate it as needed.

• On the App Home Page, tap the “…” icon in the upper-right corner to open the Home Settings page.
  
• Under Home Settings, select Units Format. This setting applies to all devices in the app (it is not configured per individual device).
  

RainPoint Home App:

Follow the same process with one extra step:

• From the Home Page, tap the “…” icon in the upper-right corner to open a drop-down menu.
  
• Select Home to access the Settings Page, then proceed to adjust the Units Format as described above.
