Easy to install - have a cap on my wood fence, so found an unobstructed place and put the two provided screws in. The battery box on the sensor shows no polarity (+/-) but the tiny picture in the manual does, so I marked it with permanent marker for easy changeout. Haven't had any rain yet to test the device, but bumped the rocking split bucket collector a couple of times which recorded on the inside unit. Love the indoor/outdoor temp side by side!
BALDR Wireless Indoor Outdoor Thermometer with Rain Gauge - Orange Backlight, Temperature Monitor, Humidity Gauge, w/ Self-Emptying Collector
I bought the Rain Gauge & thermometer for my friend and she loves how it works. Her current ones have failed, so i have bought her a new one. She is a gardener.
This Baldr Weather Station is small and very well-designed. Besides an added rain gauge, it has all the bells and whistles of larger, older brands.
If you are getting your local weather reports online or from TV they may not be specific to your front door. The most accurate outdoor temperature for you is right at your doorstep. Of course humidity and indoor temperatures are reported on this Baldr Wireless Weather Station.
The only tricky part is setting it up so your household wireless connection can read the outdoor sensor and deliver the information to your indoor screen. That may require some fiddling around to find the best, secure spot for the little rain collector as well as the sensor.
The instructions are clear --in several languages besides English-- and the small drawings make setting up easy to do.
Super happy with this indoor/outdoor thermometer. I've used some in the past that weren't great or were finicky to set up, but this one was very easy from the get go. Put batteries in the two devices in the order the instructions say, and then they automatically sync up and display all the info. Very easy to change between functions and time and all of that as well.
I can't speak to the rain function yet as I live in SoCal and we haven't gotten any rain for the season yet, but the time reading is spot on. It reads the same temperature as my indoor Nest thermostat does and also reads the same outdoor temp as another indoor/outdoor thermometer that I have, so it's spot on temperature wise. Love the functionality and the display on the indoor device as well.
Really happy with how easy this was to set up and how well it works. We'll see how the rain gauge works, but even if that doesn't work great I'm still really happy with the thermometer aspect which is the main reason we got it.
